What began as a sleepy residential community was thoroughly transformed in the mid-1920s by architect Addison Mizner, who relied on his love of Spanish architecture to build Boca Raton into a vacation resort town. His fingerprints still remain on fine structures throughout the area, though his name is most often conjured when talking about the popular anchor of town - the alfresco mall called Mizner Park. It has some quality shops and restaurants, and provides a nice breezy stroll. As you near the ocean, you’ll find some wonderfully wild and peaceful beaches and parks.
