When to Go

The best time to visit the United States depends on many factors. Skiers will tell you to vacation during the wintertime from December to March. Sun worshippers will say summer is the best overall, with the longest days and warmest temperatures.

In general, the temperatures run higher in the south and the seasons are more pronounced in the north. Fall in New England is spectacular when leaves turn vivid red and gold, and there’s a crisp feeling in the air.

Southern California’s Mediterranean climate is pleasant all year round, with warm summers and cool winters. Temperatures along the Southern California coast can run 20 degrees warmer inland.

The Rocky Mountains and New England boast cold, snowy winters, perfect for skiing, and relatively short, hot summers, ideal for just about everything else. The southern and eastern states, as well as Hawaii, are humid, while the western states remain drier.
