Overview

Spiritual Bali consists of more than 10,000 temples, including Uluwatu Temple, one of the island’s most picturesque which rises above one of Bali’s most famous surf breaks, and iconic Ulun Danu Beratan Temple, located in the central highlands. Bali is home to not only an ancient culture revered for its hospitality, but a modern, thriving nightlife that entices revelers from all countries. Bali is also capable of mesmerizing visitors with its traditional music and dance, which can be found everywhere on the heavenly Island of the Gods.

What To Do

Watch the sunset from Uluwatu Temple, which is perched high above Uluwatu Beach, a legendary surf break. This Hindu temple, guarded by mischievous monkeys, is one of the six key temples of Bali’s spiritual pillars. Another must-see temple is Pura Lempuyang, one of Bali’s oldest and most sacred temples, which is referred to as the “Gates of Heaven.” When it comes to getting outside, visitors to Bali won’t want to miss Mount Batur, an active volcano that contains the island’s largest crater lake; the Tegalalang Rice Terrace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and stunning series of perfectly arranged rice paddies; and world-renowned Kuta Beach, perhaps Bali’s most popular stretch of sand.

When to Go

The best time to visit Bali is during its dry season, between April and October. However, if you visit during the rainy season the crowds will be significantly diminished.
