Overview

Laughlin is famous for its casinos, which can be reached by water shuttle or the Riverwalk Trail, and is a much smaller and more tranquil alternative to crowded Las Vegas, which is less than two hours away. However, Laughlin is just as big a Mecca for gaming and big-name entertainment. History also comes alive with a daytrip from Laughlin to nearby Grapevine Canyon and Spirit Mountain, renowned for Native American petroglyphs, and the ghost town of Nelson, the oldest gold mine in southern Nevada.

What To Do

No trip to Laughlin is complete without visiting the venerated Golden Nugget Casino, located on the banks of the Colorado River; Don Laughlin’s Classic Automobile Collection, located in Don Laughlin’s Riverside Resort Hotel and Casino, which showcases more than 80 vintage cars; and Lake Mohave, a popular place for fishing and watersports, including scuba diving.

When to Go

The best time to visit Laughlin is from mid-April to early June, when the weather is pleasant and before the summer crowds. July and August can be extremely hot. The fall shoulder season of September to November is also a good time to visit.
