Overview

Despite a severe 1667 earthquake, this medieval planned city has preserved the character of its Gothic, Renaissance and baroque churches, monasteries and fountains.

What To See

City Walls. This is first the thing you’ll behold from the sky or sea. These ancient 13th-century barricades surround the entire Old Town with forts and towers. Experience the best views within these walls of protection.

Dubrovnik Old Town. The filming of “Game of Thrones” took place at over 15 locations here. No special effects were needed to transform the town into King’s Landing, the show’s fictitious city. Inside the walls, discover the vibrancy of Old Town on your stroll to restaurants, attractions and historic sites along the main thoroughfare.

Open-Air Market. Shop for authentic souvenirs like dried lavender, aromatic oils, home-made brandies and beautiful embroidery.

KorĨula. This is the birthplace of famed explorer Marco Polo where you’ll find fishbone shaped streets and Gothic and Renaissance buildings.

Sunj Beach. A pine forest surrounds the most famous sandy beach in the region known for its shallow waters, perfect for playing Picigin, a Croatian beach sport.

Lokrum Island. Escape the crowds with a fun day trip to this forested island with a saltwater lake also under the protection of UNESCO.
