Overview

On land, visitors will discover a town rich in culture, tradition and venerated churches, all under the shadow of majestic Mount Vrmac. On par with its renovated marina, Tivat is also developing as a culinary destination, with a cornucopia of quality restaurants.

What To Do

Porto Montenegro – This upscale marina is not just about yachts. Porto Montenegro is also overflowing with shops, luxury boutiques, restaurants, bars, live music and more.

Maritime Heritage Museum – Montenegro has a proud maritime history. In fact, Porto Montenegro, once known as the Arsenal shipyard, used to be a naval base dating back to 1889 and was one of the largest on the Adriatic. The museum showcases more than 300 exhibits of the area’s naval history, including a Yugoslav submarine.

Mount Vrmac – Hikers or bikers who make it to the top of Vrmac are rewarded with awe-inspiring views of the Bay of Tivat, the Bay of Kotor, the offshore islands and the Adriatic coastline.

Island of Our Lady of Mercy – The Adriatic is dotted with islands, and one of the smallest in the Bay of Tivat is home to one of the most beautiful Catholic churches on the coast, the Church of Our Lady of Mercy. The church was built in the 15th century and dedicated to the conception of The Virgin Mary.

When to Go

The best time to visit Tivat is in shoulder season, April to mid-June or September to late October. The weather will be pleasant and the crowds much thinner than in summer.
