York regularly has a temperate climate, where the summers stay mild, but the winters get chilly, with rainfall occurring throughout the year. May – September brings the most favorable weather, with highs reaching 61°F. July and August is peak tourist season for York however, and the crowds can be cumbersome. York is also widely known as the city of festivals, so the yearly events and activities are plentiful, with the York Christmas Festival being one of their biggest.

The aptly named Guy Fawkes Inn is located in the shadow of York Minster, the actual birthplace of Guy Fawkes who was a conspirator in the notorious Gunpowder Plot of 1605. The 13-room medieval inn is renowned for its AA Rosette restaurant.
